Initially, AWS was used by Amazon for handling their retail marketing of their online shopping website. 

SERVICES OFFERED BY AWS

AWS is a very secure platform for storing files on the cloud. AWS uses many databases for storage of the data. Some of them are relational database management system (RDBMS), such as DynamoDB, Elastic-ache, Neptune, Redshift and many more. There are many ways in which storage of data is done. These are:
  • Simple storage service
  • EFS
  • Glacier
  • Storage gateway

WHAT IS SIMPLE STORAGE SERVICE?

The simple storage service is also known as S3. This storage service of AWS is used when the user wants to store files, documents, images etc. The simple storage service of the AWS cannot be used for storing operating systems, software etc. As its name indicates, the service is used for storing simple data only.

WHAT IS GLACIER?

The glacier storage service of AWS is used when the user wants to store data for a long period of time. When it is required to store the data for long periods of time, then the glacier storage service of AWS should be used.

WHAT IS STORAGE GATEWAY?

The storage gateway service of the AWS is used for backing up the data. The data which is kept on the servers which are accessed by the users is backed up, and the backup of that data is uploaded on AWS. So, when there is a requirement to back up the data, then the storage gateway service of the AWS should be used.
